Ewelme Stream (Source to the River Thames) Project Sites

We do not know of any projects planned for this water body particularly in relation to improvements to the stream, monitoring of the water quality or Riverfly populations, or surveys of either mammals or amphibians. If you have any suggestions then we would be very pleased if you could make contact via the 'Who we are?' button above.

There are however a number of ecological opportunities within the catchment:

  1. The Ewelme watercress beds are now owned and managed by the Chiltern Society as a local nature reserve . The beds run the whole length of the village and are accessible from the road in several places. A project exists to improve flooding resilience at the beds.

  2. Possible bypassing or de-culverting approximately a 300m section of the Brook at Brook Street, Benson.

  3. 4. and 5., Naturalising of urbanised stretches using flow deflectors, woody debris and removal of small obstructions to fish passage.
